I look back over a career not finished, but thirty years mature. I exam the choices made, the big ones and the small to exam the effects on my path. I look at the heroes I found in co-workers, in community members and family and acknowledge the incredible meaning given to my life by their presence. I thank God for an early diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, giving me the opportunity to experience a deeper level of empathy with the patients I treat, a better understanding of the care we provide as a profession and a greater awareness of community in-accessibility. Along the way I have accumulated a set of Hard Won Pearls, pearls of wisdom that I wish to share with therapists, physicians, business managers, families who have been touched by MS and with parents who struggle to blend the needs of the career with the incredible need to parent.
